Opis

800 lat temu nad rzeką Dłubnią niedaleko Krakowa rosła wielka puszcza; jej piękne ślady przetrwały do dziś.

Eight hundred years ago, on the banks of the River Dłubnia near Kraków, there stretched a great primeval forest; beautiful traces of it have survived to this day. More important still, however, is that the magnificent convent of the Norbertine Sisters, founded here in 1226, has also endured. Separated from the temptations of the world by enclosure and by its setting amid the woods, for eight centuries the nuns have been imploring God’s forgiveness for the sins of that very world. As Saint John Paul II said: “Their gift has not only the aspect of sacrifice and expiation, but also acquires the dimension of thanksgiving offered to the Father through participation in the thanksgiving of the beloved Son and of Mary.”
The spiritual and material treasures of the Norbertine convent at Imbramowice are brought closer to us by the eminent artist Adam Bujak, an unsurpassed master of sacred photography. Through his work we come to know not only the remarkable works of art gathered here over the centuries. We also discover the charm of the shrine itself: since 2003 Imbramowice has been home to the Shrine of the Passion of Christ, where the faithful from across Poland gather in the convent church around the grace-famed image of the Suffering Christ. As we turn the pages of this album, we are immersed in Christian and patriotic tradition and drawn towards deep prayer.
