Written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, The Lost World is a 1912 science fiction novel about an expedition to the South American jungle where prehistoric animals still survive. While Doyle is best known for his creation of Sherlock Holmes, The Lost World became incredibly popular and provided inspiration for many novels and films during the twentieth century. The novel is considered a classic in English literature and also the pioneer of the science fiction genre.
The journey follows Professor Challenger, a paleontologist, who has ruined his scientific credibility by insisting that prehistoric creatures still exist. In order to regain respect Professor Challenger sets out on a mission to provide proof of his findings. Joined by a reporter, scientist, and adventurer; the group set out on an expedition where they must confront the mysterious and dangerous land inhabited by dinosaurs and ape men.
